THE threat of sewers flooding at homes in a popular North Yorkshire resort should have been significantly reduced.
Yorkshire Water has now completed a 19-week £500,000 protection project in Runswick Bay, near Whitby.
Contractors have installed 250m of new sewer between Nettledale Close and Bank Top Lane. Surface water will be diverted downstream to where there is greater capacity in the sewer network.
This work is part of the company’s £120m investment across the Yorkshire region to help protect people and properties from sewer flooding.
