AN animal rescue centre is celebrating its silver jubilee this weekend - and animal lovers are being invited to join in the fun.
The Blue Cross opened their animal adoption centre at Topcliffe, Thirsk, 25 years ago and to mark the event is holding a fuind-raising extravaganza on Sunday, May 20.
The event takes place between 11am and 4pm, entry is free but donations are welcome.
Former Blue Cross staff from the centre, past animal rehomers, charity supporters and special guests will also see the burial of a time capsule containing photographs of current staff, dog training and cat care items along with photos of some of the homeless pets currently being cared for at the centre.
There will also be a chance to enjoy refreshments and home-made birthday cake and try your luck in the tombola and raffle.
