PERMISSION has been given for an Easingwold farm to build a new 800-place pig finishing building.
The building, at East Carolina Farm, will boast a total floor area of 612.6 square metres and will replace an existing pig building which is poorly insulated and exposes the animals to high temperatures in the summer.
The new building will also mean that the pigs will no longer have to be transported to another farm a mile away for finishing.
A statement received by Hambleton District Council’s planning committee in support of the application states that the proposed building will offer state of the art control of pig husbandry due to the environmentally
friendly, highly insulated energy efficient design.
Hambleton District Council’s planning committee approved the plans.
