Open gardens

AN OPEN garden event featuring a string quartet will take place in Richmond on June 22. Dennis and Marcia McLuckie are opening “Mr Yorke’s Walled Garden”, on Cravengate from 6pm to 9pm, and there will be music from the Mowbray String Quartet and Susanna Pell. Admission is £5 for adults and under 16s go free.

Summer shows

Village event

RAINTON, near Thirsk, is holding a street market and fun day on Sunday. There will be crafts, food, children’s activities, refreshments, vintage vehicles and more between 11am and 3pm. All proceeds to the village hall playground.

Social media

POLICE in North Yorkshire are this week celebrating reaching 100,000 followers on Facebook.The force’s three main corporate social media accounts now have more than 200,000 followers including 94,100 Twitter followers and 11,400 Instagram followers.

Van theft

A RED Mercedes Sprinter van was stolen from Gatherley Road, Brompton-on-Swale, at around 10am last Saturday. It had the registration number of NA59 PXJ and old Parcel Force signage above the driver cab.
