AN MP has listened to residents’ frustrations over not receiving superfast broadband when new houses in their village are being connected.
Thirsk MP Kevin Hollinrake has demanded an urgent meeting with Openreach CEO, Clive Selley, to find out why three brand new bungalows just outside the village of Tholthorpe are to receive superfast broadband when 12 existing properties in the village cannot.
The dozen houses in Tholthorpe have their telephone lines linked to the cabinet in Tollerton rather than the Superfast-enabled one in the village which is only yards from their properties.
Mr Hollinrake said he has requested a meeting with Mr Selley.
He said: “I have met residents and taken the matter up with Openreach many times.
“I can therefore understand and share their fury when they discovered Openreach putting in new cabling from the village cabinet to the new bungalows bringing the new cables along the front of their houses.
“It is a ludicrous situation.”
