FIVE fire engines were needed to deal with a blaze at an industrial estate.

The fire broke out at Dalton Airfield Industrial Estate, Thirsk, the early hours of Wednesday morning.

Five crews from Thirsk, Ripon, Boroughbridge, Easingwold and Northallerton were called to the site at 3.35am.

They used two hose reels to put the fire out and three crews remained at the site into the morning to dampen the area down and check for hotspots.

The fire is believed to have started in an industrial dryer at a factory on the estate.
