A LOTTERY grant of £10,000 has helped finish off an athletic club’s two -year restoration.
The Thirsk Athletic and Social Club has undergone an extensive renovation which has seen everything from the floors to the ceiling replaced or revamped.
The project first started in 2016 thanks to a Mondegreen EB grant award of £34,826 through funds generated by FD Todd & Sons.
This enabled the changing rooms and toilets to receive a major renovation and the Lottery money has funded the final internal refurbishment.
Club committee member Malcolm Hartley said the response to the renovation had been “very favourable”.
He said it was much-needed because the clubhouse had not had any substantial work done to it since it was built in 1985.
Eight clubs use the venue as a base, including junior football, bowls and squash.
