TWO of the country’s most successful authors are hosting audiences at separate events on Tuesday night.

Crime fiction novelist Ann Cleeves, will be giving an audience at Rural Arts in Thirsk, while Joanna Trollope will be at the town’s St Mary’s Church.

Ms Cleeves - whose books formed the basis of the popular television series Vera - will talk about her darkest and most personal novel to date, The Seagull.

It is set in her hometown of Whitley Bay and explores police corruption deep in the heart of a community, and fragile, and fracturing, family relationships.

Ms Trollope, who has been writing fiction for more than 30-years, will talk about some of her best-known works,
