A MAN who collapsed whilst walking in woods was carried across rough ground and stream with the help of a mountain rescue crew to a waiting ambulance.
Cleveland Mountain Rescue Team, a group of around 50 unpaid volunteers, helped a man from Eaglescliffe who collapsed at Cod Beck reservoir, near Osmotherley on Saturday.
The 38-year-old man, who became ill and collapsed to the floor whilst on a walk with friends, was treated at the scene by paramedics from Yorkshire Ambulance Service who asked for assistance from the rescue team due to the remote location of the incident site and the difficulty in carrying the man to the waiting ambulance.
A team of 18 responded to the callout, and used a specialised stretcher to carry him the 200m across the rough ground and stream to the ambulance.
He was then taken to James Cook Hospital for treatment.
