AN appeal against a council’s decision to refuse permission for three new homes in a Thirsk village has been dismissed by the Planning Inspectorate.
An application to build the houses at Scott’s Garth in Sutton-under-Whitestonecliffe was rejected by Hambleton District Council in January.
That decision was then referred to the government’s Planning Inspectorate who has now upheld the original decision.
Inspector Graeme Robbie, who visited the village in June, noted that the proposed site was too isolated from facilities and services to be suitable for development.
His report states that the village is not well-served by public transport and the A170 is not a suitable route for prospective residents to walk or cycle along to access amenities and services in nearby Thirsk.
