BUDGET hotel chain Travelodge has revealed it is looking to create more outlets in North Yorkshire.

The Northallerton and Thirsk area has been selected as one of the districts where it would like to build another hotel.

Whitby, Knaresborough, Wetherby and Bridlington are among other areas on the company’s wish-list.

Travelodge laid out its plans as it opened its fifth hotel in York, its fifth in the city. York Layerthorpe is the company’s 547th hotel and its 34th hotel in Yorkshire.

Property director Tony O’Brien said: “As we look to the future, the Yorkshire economy is growing at pace and with increasing visitor numbers to areas such as Northallerton/Thirsk there is still a shortage of good quality accommodation at a great value price.

“To meet this growing need we are actively looking for our first hotel site in the Northallerton/Thirsk area, which is very exciting.”
