THE FAMILY of a missing dog are appealing to people to help find her, after she disappeared while training for a charity endurance walk.

Nara, a tri-colour Border Collie, went missing from the woods on the edge of the North York Moors, above Over Silton in the Thirsk area at 6.20pm on Saturday, June 3.

She had been nearing the end of a 20-mile training walk with her owner Ben Wild on the path from Thimbleby. Mr Wild was hoping to take Nara on part of the 100k Challenge charity walk next weekend (June 17), a 24-hour endurance challenge taking place in Yorkshire to raise money for Blind Veterans UK and Guide Dogs UK.

But Nara suddenly disappeared and has not been seen by anyone since.

Debbie Wild said the two-year-old pet was “very missed” and her disappearance had been particularly distressing for their three children. Two of the children are currently taking A-Levels and GCSEs and their youngest child, seven-year-old Zoe, is described as distraught.

Mrs Wild said: “She suddenly disappeared and has not been seen by anyone since. Despite a campaign on social media, posters across the area and many friends physically searching a huge area every day, there has not been one positive sighting of Nara.”

The search has been aided by Mandy Butler, a dog trapping volunteer with Harvey’s Army North, a charity of volunteers who work to reunite owners with missing animals. She has helped in the intensive search for Nara across the moors.

Nara has a microchip and was wearing a red collar with a tag attached.

There is a reward for her safe return.
