PARLIAMENTARY candidates for the Thirsk and Malton constituency will be attending a hustings on May 31 and will take questions from the public.

Candidates from every party have confirmed their attendance at the event, organised by Churches Together in Thirsk.

It will take place at St Oswald’s Church in Sowerby at 7pm. on Wednesday 31 May, just a week before the General Election.

The hustings will be chaired by Geof Sewell from the Quakers who said: “In our 2015 Sowerby Hustings, there was a chance for local voters to meet and challenge the candidates face to face, in a way that was both civil and enlightening.

“We hope that this venture by Thirsk Churches Together will maintain the tradition of respect for the community, the candidates and the truth.”
