GOVERNORS, staff and students at Thirsk School and Sixth Form College are celebrating after being rated ‘good’ in every category by Ofsted.

Ofsted inspectors visited the school before Easter and their report published this week rates the school as good overall and good in every area of the inspection. Teaching was seen as good and improving further and the students’ behaviour was seen as a strength.

Inspectors also praised the school’s ‘strong community ethos’.

Headteacher, Stuart Mason, said: “We are delighted that the qualities of our staff and students have been recognised by the inspectors and that they have commended the work we have done.”

Chair of Governors, Gill Donald, said the governing board is is very pleased with the report which ‘clearly outlines the school’s strengths’.
