AN exhibition of up and coming artists from across the country opens in Thirsk on Friday, April 28.

Now in its second year, Rural Arts is staging a new ‘Fresh’ exhibition of 14 artists’ work.

The two-week show aims to provide a springboard for emerging artists to exhibit a visual landscape of painting, drawing, photography, ceramics and installation.

Exhibition visitors will also have the chance to buy unique pieces at affordable prices.

Curator of Fresh, Heidi Donohoe, described the exhibition as “an explosion” of cutting edge art. She said: “My aim has been from the outset to focus on engaging art, people and places by offering a non-conventional approach to how we value, view and participate with art.”

The exhibition runs at Rural Arts, at The Courthouse on Westgate until May 13.
