A POPULAR family-friendly festival is returning to North Yorkshire this summer.

Now in its eight year, the Deer Shed Festival has revealed its line-up for 2017.

From Edinburgh Fringe shows to top comedians, organisers say they have filled the bill with a diverse selection of attractions to cater for all ages.

One of the highlights for families promises to be the hit show at the 2016 Edinburgh Festival Fringe, the Pub Quiz for Kids with Patrick Monahan.

Hosted by one of the UK’s favourite stand-ups, organisers say that the brand new family fun quiz is unlike anything audiences have seen before.

There will be plenty of music acts, including The Great Northern Brass Off, and fans of The Doctor are sure to enjoy Toby Hadoke’s show For the Love of Doctor Who.

The production will connect the best of Mr Hadoke’s critically-acclaimed shows along with never before seen material.

For those wanting a more energetic experience, there are plenty of all-action shows to chose from.

These include ComedySportz UK, a fast-paced improv comedy show where two teams battle it out for the biggest laughs, and the acrobatic Pif-Paf Theatre featuring somersaulting circus wheels, flying bikes and giant puppets.

There will also be a touch of magic as magicians Kane and Abel bring their comedy show, Breaking the Magicians’ Code to the festival.

Alongside traditional magic, the entertainers will teach young audience members how to pull off some spectacular tricks.

Since the festival’s founding eight years ago, many big names have performed at the Topcliffe event, including Billy Bragg, Beth Orton and Johnny Marr.

Organisers have always made every effort to ensure the festival remains family-friendly and this year is no different, a spokesman said: “The team behind it have been in place from the start and families are at the heart of the preparations, the activities, and the services on site.

“In the last eight years we have grown in attendance but are always careful never to become too big.”

The festival takes place at Baldersby Park from July 21 to 23. Visitors can camp onsite and ticket prices vary depending on camping requirements.
