YOUNG footballers have been given a smart new look thanks to a local company.

Thirsk Falcons Junior under-16s team is celebrating after securing a sponsorship deal with leading structural steel company Severfield.

And the established junior football team will now display the Severfield company logo on their new Avec elite training jackets as they continue their season in the Teesside Junior Football league.

Team manager and coach Vaughan Lonsdale said: “The players are looking forward to wearing their new jackets and can’t thank Severfield enough for their support of the club and the team. The jackets look great and will certainly help to instil a sense of pride and passion in the players which can only continue to strengthen our season”.

Shane Bendelow, fabrication team leader at Severfield, added: “ Severfield is passionate about supporting young people, taking on at least 10 apprentices each year to add to our 1,400 strong workforce.

"We are committed to supporting the communities in which we work, therefore it's great to have the opportunity to join forces with our local junior football club and offer this hard working team our support. We’re looking forward to watching their season progress."

Thirsk Falcons Juniors has grown to be one of the largest amateur sports clubs in the town and is as popular as ever with over 220 boys and girls registered. However it is always looking to recruit new players and forge links with new companies. To find out more visit thirskfalcons.org.uk
