A ‘BOTTOMS, burps and bile’ topic certainly caught the imagination of Thirsk schoolchildren who were encouraged to get creative in class.

Pupils at Thirsk Primary School have been learning about their bodies and how to maintain good health.

As part of their studies, the children drew their own digestive systems on a t-shirt.

The innovative learning method certainly fulfilled one of the school’s values of ‘enjoyment’ and is one of a series of learning experiences that encourage children to take a hands-on approach to their education.

In recent weeks older children had a war-time dress up day as part of their studies and a trip to the Eden Camp is planned for next week.

Headteacher Richard Chandler said: “Bringing the curriculum to life is so important for our pupils and activities like this really help us do this.”
