MONTHS of singing rehearsals culminated in a national arena performance for Thirsk schoolchildren.

Youngsters from Thirsk Community Primary School joined around 4,000 pupils from across the country to take part in the Young Voices 2017 concert.

Young Voices is an annual mass singing concert that brings children together at venues across the country.

It provides them with a musical experience that they will benefit from and remember for the rest of their lives.

Four members of staff accompanied 27 Thirsk pupils to the Motorpoint Arena in Sheffield where the youngsters took part in rehearsals with an orchestra and conductor.

This helped prepare them for an evening performance to a packed audience of parents, friends and families of all the pupils involved.

A school spokesman said: “The evening was a spectacular success with the arena filled with the voices of over 4000 pupils singing together and having a great time taking part.”
