A CYCLE challenge that launched last year is aiming to be bigger and better for 2017.

Yorkshire True Grit is an off-road cycling challenge running across two days in June.

The Outlaw and The Drive rides, 60 miles and 40-miles-long respectively, take place on June 24 and the 20-mile-long Stampede runs the following day.

The Event HQ has moved to High Paradise Farm at Boltby, on the edge of the North York Moors National Park, and the routes will take in gravel tracks across the surrounding countryside.

Organiser, Andrew Wright of Bikewright.com, said he was looking forward to introducing riders to the new routes for 2017.

He said: “We’ve been riding these moors for decades, and we’re keen to show that gravel riding is a great way to experience North Yorkshire – all of it.”

The team would like to see more families taking part this year so have launched a special family ticket for The Stampede – where two paying adults can accompany two children who will get their places for free.

Yorkshire True Grit also aims to be accessible for all disciplines of cycling – there are classes for gravel, mountain, singlespeed, fat and electric bikes.
