North Yorkshire Police said the incident on a winding stretch of Whaites Lane, near the junction with the A168 outside Asenby, happened shortly after 7am.
A police spokeswoman said the male driver was able to free himself from the overturned Vauxhall Corsa and that no other vehicles had been involved.
