RAIL travellers faced delays on Tuesday night after a vehicle struck a bridge in North Yorkshire.
TransPennine Express reported on its website: "A vehicle has struck a bridge at Thirsk, causing delays of up to 30 minutes to journeys between York and Darlington / Sunderland / Middlesbrough.
"This is expected to continue until approximately 19:30."
It said TransPennine Express customers travelling between York and Newcastle were able to travel on CrossCountry and Virgin Trains East Coast services to help complete their journey.
"Alternatively, TransPennine Express customers travelling between York and Middlesbrough can travel to Darlington, using a Northern service between Darlington and Middlesbrough," it said.
"If you are travelling from Yarm, please use the help point at the station to organise alternative transport."
