A MAN has been charged with assaulting a woman in North Yorkshire following reports of a violent incident.
The 51-year-old man was arrested in connection with a violent incident in Thirsk on Thursday (July 21).
Police officers were called to an address on the Market Place at about midnight.
Firefighters with North Yorkshire Fire and Rescue also attended following reports the woman was on the roof of the building.
The victim, who is aged in her early fifties, is currently being supported by the police.
Following questioning, the man was charged with assault occasioning actual bodily harm.
He appeared at York Magistrates Court on Saturday morning where he was remanded in custody and is due to appear at York Crown Court on August 19.
