A 25-MILE mountain bike race on the edge of the North York Moors is to be revived for the first time since the mid-1990s.

The Boltby Bash cycle ride is to take place around High Paradise Farm at Boltby near Thirsk in May.

The family who own the farm hosted the race for a number of years in the 1990s and are now helping to organise the updated race with a bike events company.

One of the organisers, Ginny Skilbeck said: “It used to be one of the biggest mountain biking races in the 1990s. We hosted it for four or five years and then it ran its course and life moved on.

“But recently we opened a tea room and B&B and we wanted to host it again. We spoke to several people about it and two local guys Pete and Chip approached us and designed the new courses.”

The course runs over 25 miles of private land and is run in five timed stages.

There will also be a 5K and 10K road challenge for novice riders and trails around the picturesque farm.

The event runs over Saturday, May 21 and Sunday, May 22 and there will also be camping, live music on Saturday night and home cooked food available.
