AN EXHIBITION of a wide range of works will celebrate the talents of students and graduates.

Rural Arts in Thirsk is showcasing art by 13 final year art students and recent graduates of art schools in the region in its Fresh exhibition.

Angela Holt, manager of the Courthouse Gallery at Rural Arts, said she was excited to open the exhibition which includes paintings, photography, textile, drawing, ceramics and installation.

She said Fresh gives up and coming artists the opportunity to emerge as early career artists by showcasing a diverse cross section of interesting and cutting edge works alongside other colleges and universities in the North of England.

She added: “I can’t wait to see the reaction to the exhibition.

“We will also have heads of department from universities that the students have come from, to talk to people about what they expect from students, what their ethos is and what students can expect from their courses.”

The exhibition runs from Friday, March 25 to Saturday, April 9, and there will be a chance to hear the artists talk about their practice on Saturday, April 2 from 10am to 5pm at the BBC Get Creative Day.
