CHILDREN and their families can try their hand at creating seasonal chickens from cereal boxes and Batik eggs during Easter art workshops.

Thirsk Rural Arts is running art activities throughout the Easter holidays. Family can now book sessions to create colourful, Easter chickens in workshops that run from 10am until 12-noon from Tuesday, March 29 until Thursday, March 31. Afternoon sessions are running on the same days, during which people can create colourful batik eggs.

There is a £2.50 charge per item.

The Courthouse Café will also be open, which offers a special children’s menu.

The arts activities are part of a year-round series of hands-on opportunities for all ages at Rural Arts’ Courthouse building. Participants can choose from taster sessions or more intensive workshops in a programme which ranges from ceramics to digital skills and crochet to stone carving.

Rural Arts director Angela Hall said: “What better way to spend a couple of hours of quality time with your family than working together to create some fun and attractive Easter decorations?”
