AN activity centre is throwing down the gauntlet calling on volunteers to take on an “impossible winter challenge.”

The North Yorkshire Youth group, based at Carlton Lodge Activity Centre, near Thirsk, has released its programme for schools, scout groups, youth clubs and corporate packages as well as events at weekends and school holidays for families.

One of their first and toughest events is a new initiative, the “winter challenge” during February, which they say sets survival tasks that many people would have thought impossible, the centre says this will be ideal for older teenage groups from colleges and universities or for corporate groups.

Mark Faulkner, centre manager said: “2016 promises to be a big year for activity groups here at Carlton Lodge. The success of our school holiday programme last year has provided the momentum for further services this year and the addition of the Winter Challenge will create a further exciting option for the seriously active”.

Chief Executive David Sharp added: “We have a very successful core service that is delivering high quality activities for young people but as with any business or organisation, we need to keep developing new ideas and options and the new ‘Winter Challenge’ will be our own next big challenge.”

The programmes include Activity Days and Adventure Skills, for further information contact david@nyy.org.uk; mark@nyy.org.uk www.nyy.org.uk / www.carltonlodge.org.uk.
