A MAN is due to appear in court charged with the attempted murder of an 85-year-old, who was found with serious injuries in North Yorkshire.

Police discovered the elderly man at The Flatts in Sowerby, Thirsk at 8.20pm on Thursday, November 5, following a report of a concern for safety.
When officers arrived they discovered the man with serious injuries. He was taken to the James Cook University Hospital in Middlesbrough, where he remains in a critical condition.
A 29-year-old man, from Thirsk, is due to appear at Northallerton Magistrates Court later today charged with attempted murder and theft.
