FOUR thousand pheasants have been killed after a fire broke out at a poultry farm.
North Yorkshire Fire and Rescue Service said they were alerted about a blaze at two large sheds in Austins Hill, Brafferton, near Thirsk, at 1.40am this morning.
It is understood all the pheasants inside the sheds were killed.
Crews from Thirsk, Ripon, Boroughbridge and Easingwold attended the incident, which saw both sheds destroyed.
A brigade spokesman said the cause of the fire was accidental.
