A RACECOURSE at the heart of a district renowned for its food producers has introduced two themed race days aimed at getting the digestive juices flowing.
Thirsk Racecourse, which stages 14 flat fixtures annually, between April and September, including five Saturday afternoon meetings and three evening meetings, will host a cheese and wine market at its meeting on Wednesday, July 1, enabling racegoes to sample a range of produce, courtesy of its suppliers.
All of the goods on display will be available to purchase from the stallholders.
The venue, which was established in 1855, will stage a vintage tea party at its evening meeting on Tuesday, July 14, featuring live music by Frankly Jazz.
Racecourse spokeswoman Sophia Monkman said: “We’re always looking at new ways to add value to our racegoer experience and food, wine, afternoon tea and racing go together well.
"Of course we don’t expect racegoers to carry cheese around with them all day, so our suppliers will be happy to keep it all refrigerated until the end of racing”.
