A SEVEN-year-old girl has raised more than £600 after having her waist length hair cut off to help make a wig for children undergoing chemotherapy.

Romilly Abbott, from Thirsk, had seen a programme about children who have lost their hair because of cancer treatment and decided to have her long locks cut to donate to the Little Princess Trust, which helps young cancer patients.

Her mother, Fiona said:”We’re so proud of her. She had her hair cut off at Watkins Wright hairdressers in Thirsk and never faltered, she was so focused and is thrilled that the money is still coming in. At this rate were hoping to be able to buy two wigs or more. Her goal now is to grow her hair back and do it all again.”

The Little Princess Trust provides real-hair wigs free of charge to boys and girls who have lost their own hair through cancer treatment and so far have given away more than 2,000 specially made wigs which cost around £350 each.

Donations can be made for Romilly’s campaign through justgiving, go to https://www.justgiving.com/Fiona-Abbott.
