A BUNGALOW caught fire just before midnight on Saturday (April 18).
The blaze started in the front room of the property in Springfield Grove at Boroughbridge at 11.40pm.
Fire crews from Boroughbridge and Ripon attended the scene after receiving reports of a heavily smoke-logged property. On arrival they dampened down the remaining fire. The male occupant was able to evacuate before crews arrived and was taken to hospital suffering smoke inhalation. The fire damaged a carpet, table, music system and recycling bin. The rest of the property was damaged by smoke. North Yorkshire Fire and Rescue remained at the scene until about 1.40am.
