AN award-winning author is inviting residents to join him exploring what it means to live in Thirsk and the surrounding villages.

In a pilot scheme sponsored by The Royal Literary Fund, Jonathan Tulloch has been tasked with collecting stories and memorabilia which illustrate everyday life in the area.

Mr Tulloch said the project, entitled, Ride The White Horse, aimed to bring people together in a creative forum, and the articles would trigger discussions and imaginative responses which would be featured on a website.

Mr Tulloch, whose first novel, The Season Ticket, was released as a feature film under the title Purely Belter, said: "The aim is to find out how people feel about living in the area.

"People will talk about memories and photos that they have got, or things such as local recipes."

The first session will be held at All Saints RC Church Hall, Thirsk, on April 17, May 1 and May 15, at 10.15am.
