A VILLAGE pub that has been transformed into an award-winning restaurant is set to launch a vegetable garden.

Chef Matthew Roath and his partner Sammy Clark, who took over The Buck Inn, in Maunby, near Thirsk, two years ago said they wanted to serve home-grown produce after establishing a reputation for serving Yorkshire fare.

In the past year the couple have seen their business named Yorkshire Life's Dining Pub of the Year 2014 and selected for the Good Food Guide 2015 and the Michelin Pub Guide 2015.

The are also planning to create jobs in all areas of the business, expand the car park, and provide wine and hospitality training for staff .

Mr Roath said: "We are delighted and excited at the success we've had already - this has long been a dream of ours and having worked, dined and lived in pubs and restaurants, we knew exactly what we wanted to achieve.

"It's great to have that reflected back at us with so many accolades and the award was just the icing of the cake for a truly fantastic year."
