A NORTH Yorkshire primary school is celebrating a second success – after being judged as “outstanding” by inspectors.
Pickhill Primary School, at Pickhill, near Thirsk received the accolade in the National Society Statutory Inspection of Anglican and Methodist Schools Report.
It was given the highest grading for its distinctive Christian character and for meeting the needs of all learners.
It was also considered “good” for its effectiveness and distinctiveness as a Church of England school and for its leadership and management.
The news follows an Ofsted inspection earlier in the term, which concluded the school is now “good”.
Teaching assistant Rachel Stephenson, who is also the school’s Religious Education leader, said: “I am very proud of the work we’ve done at school, and I’m especially proud of the Liturgy Group.
“They have worked really hard on the assemblies they give. They showed the inspectors round and answered their questions about how we worship and where we pray.”
• Pupils raised £42 towards the charity, Save The Children, by paying to wear their Christmas jumpers instead of uniform.
