A MAN is still fighting for his life in hospital following a three-vehicle smash on the A19 in North Yorkshire.

Another man involved in the crash has been arrested and police are still appealing for witnesses to come forward.

The smash happened on the southbound carriageway near the Cleveland Tontine, just south of the A172 junction, at 10.55am on Sunday, December 28.

It involved a blue-grey Audi A2 car, a silver Mitsubishi L200 pick-up truck and a blue Mazda 6S car.

The driver of the Audi A2, a 35-year-old from Bromsgrove, Worcestershire, was seriously injured and is in a critical condition at James Cook University Hospital in Middlesbrough.

The driver of the Mitsubishi, a 47-year-old man from Redcar, was arrested in connection with the collision. Following questioning he was released on police bail to allow time for further enquiries.
