POLICE are hunting burglars who stole a distinctive antique gold pocket watch along with other jewellery.
The raiders struck at a detached house at the top of St Mary’s Walk in Thirsk between 10.30am and 4pm on Tuesday, December 9.
It is believed that the burglars entered from the Millennium Green to the rear of the house and officers are appealing to anyone who may have seen any suspicious people or activity in the area, to get in touch.
Police are also appealing for anyone who has been offered the antique gold watch,which was presented to the owner by Lord Ashcombe.
It is engraved with the words “To Joe (looks like Zoe) with gratitude for respect that you have shown to many friends over the years” Ashcombe.
The burglars also stole a diamond ring, a gold signet ring, pewter necklaces, a Celtic style brooch, a gold locket and a Hudl tablet.
It is believed that the burglars also took a grey holdall on wheels and officers are appealing to anyone who may have seen someone with a grey holdall walking through the Millennium Green, along Dowber Way or along St Mary’s Walk on the day.
