CROWDS turned out for a St George’s Day party to launch a pop song which comedian Chubby Brown and former X-factor contestants Journey South hope will become the number one single during the World Cup in Brazil.
The event, outside Tesco in Thirsk, saw Middlesbrough-based duo Andy and Carl Pemberton perform the Hopes Of A Thousand Men, which is available for pre-order and will be released on June 1.
Around 200 people also watched a preview of the video for the song, which was shot at several locations in the Thirsk area. Local acts also performed at the event.
Robin Ward, of Thirsk, hopes his reworking of the 1981 punk hit Swords of a Thousand Men, by Tenpole Tudor, will see off competition from Gary Barlow's official Cup song Greatest Day.
