THE developers behind a controversial 925-home estate on the edge of a market town have unveiled the first show properties.

Mulberry Homes is inviting prospective buyers to see what some of the properties on the Sowerby Gateway estate, Thirsk, will look like and how they could be furnished.

The firm will build 13 different house types, ranging from a two-bedroom apartment valued at £154,995 to a five-bedroom detached home being sold for £419,995.

A Mulberry spokeswoman said it had sold a number of homes off-plan and that it expected interest to increase with as people begin to move on to the estate.

The scheme has generated fierce local opposition, with many residents claiming it is too large.
