STALLHOLDERS and market organisers are preparing to hold their festive markets in North Yorkshire.

Hambleton District Council says most of the area’s markets will operate as normal throughout the Christmas season, with the exception of Thirsk’s Monday market, which falls on Christmas Day and New Year’s Day and Bedale’s Tuesday market on Boxing Day, which will be cancelled.

“The weekly markets sell everything from cauliflowers to cards, socks to sweets and purses to plants,” said Councillor Isobel Sanderson, portfolio holder for governance.

“They are well worth a visit, you may pick up some great Christmas presents and are supporting the local economy at the same time.”

Stokesley and Easingwold markets will continue to be held on Fridays throughout the festive season, Northallerton’s markets will continue on Wednesdays and Saturdays and Thirsk’s Saturday markets will continue.
