A SIX-year-old horse lover has much to celebrate after winning trophies at two prestigious shows.

Annie Shimwell-Edgar, from Great Ayton, is celebrating after successes at Kildale Show and the British Elite Championship Show in Grantham.

Annie won with her treasured nine-year-old pony Abercamlais Anerium (aka Cruz) and was led on the rein by her grandmother Lynn Shimwell.

At this year’s Kildale Show, on September 2, the pair won Supreme Champion.

Last weekend they had further success at Arena UK in Grantham when they were runners-up.

Annie was in the ring on Saturday at 8am and finished in the evening performance at around 10.45pm.

Annie started to ride when she was six-months-old and has been eager to enter competitions ever since.

Lynn Shimwell said: “Since then she has gone from strength to strength, she is an elegant rider and knows exactly what to do when in the ring.”

She has developed a strong bond with Cruz and hopes their success will continue.
