AN 85-year-old grandmother has celebrated her golden anniversary as a member of the Mothers’ Union with a visit to a local tattooist.
Joyce Shelton, from Stokesley in North Yorkshire was keen to celebrate her membership of the Christian, family-based charity with something unusual.
Ms Shelton has been a member of the charity for more than 50 years.
After speaking with the tattoo artist, she settled on the Mothers’ Union emblem for her ink work.
She said: “It took ten minutes and didn’t hurt.”
The grandmother says her tattoo has now become a talking point among her friends and family, as well as her groups of friends at the local Mothers’ Union group.
She said: “There were a few raised eyebrows and they all gathered round to have a look.
“I might have been the first but I definitely won’t be the last Mothers’ Union member to visit his shop!”
