A MUSICAL society is preparing for its annual springtime performance.
Pickering Musical Society will perform Me and My Girl, which is based around the main character Bill Snibson, a Lambeth costermonger revealed to be the new Earl of Hareford.
Attempts are made to educate Bill, played by Matthew Russel, into the ways of the gentry and to separate him from his cockney girlfriend Sally who is played by new society member Paula Paylor.
Society stalwart Marcuss Burnside leads a host of hilarious characters and several toe-tapping songs including the famous Lambeth Walk, The Sun Has Got His Hat On and Leaning On A Lamp Post. The show is described as a “sublime and sunny treat for all fans of musical comedy”.
Me and My Girl opens at the Kirk Theatre on Tuesday, May 15 at 7.30pm and runs until Saturday, May 19, with an extra matinee on the Saturday. Tickets cost from £12 and available from theatre box office on Tuesdays between 11am and 1pm, at www.kirktheatre.co.uk or 01751-474833.
