TINY houses are set to entice ‘fairies’ into a woodland and delight young walkers.
Ryedale District Council planning committee has approved plans to create a fairy trail in the woods of Buttercrambe moor, to the north east of York.
The scheme will involve a 2.4km network of woodland paths filled with miniature houses for fairies in an existing woodland adjoining the Jollydays Glamping Site.
There will also be a reception building, cafe and museum and story-telling area, with solar panels for electricity and play area for children, as well as a car park with space for 60 vehicles.
Speaking at the planning meeting, Cllr Caroline Goodrick said: “If it’s supporting the glamping site, and people with children who enjoy going into the countryside and using the facilities and seeing some of the local wildlife, then I can support it.”
Cllr Paul Andrews seconded the proposal, adding: “I think this is wonderful.”
The site would operate year-round and creating ten jobs.
The planning committee unanimously approved the application
