A COUPLE who have clocked up 100 years of joint service between them have been given a British Citizen Award (BCA) for their services to the community.
Joy and John Hudson, aged 70 and 75 and from Norton, near Malton, were among 36 medallists honoured at a ceremony in Westminster.
They were honoured for their work developing Malton Cricket Club and the Fitzwilliam Sports Association over many decades.
Joy said: “The letter advising us of our awards left us speechless. Volunteers don’t expect recognition or awards, they just do what they can to help others.”
