THE Ryedale Book Festival and the Blackthorn Press have announced a new short story competition to take place this year.
There are prizes totalling £500 and the top ten stories will be published by the Blackthorn Press.
The competition closes on March 31 and the award ceremony will take place in September.
Festival director Sarah Tyson said: "As a festival we are committed to promoting the enjoyment of reading to all ages and introducing new and emerging writers to our audiences.
"An important part of our work is to encourage anyone to have a go at writing and entering a short story competition is a good way to start and develop."
Full details and how to enter can be found on the websites ryedalebookfestival.com and blackthornpress.com.
