A FLOOD alert has been issued for the North Yorkshire coast this evening.
The Environment Agency has warned of high tides expected along the coast from Whitby to Filey.
One of the most badly affected areas is expected to be Royal Albert Drive, which runs alongside the North Bay in Scarborough and Marine Drive, beneath Scarborough Castle.
The agency states “over topping waves and spray” are expected between 6pm and 7pm tonight.
The recent heavy rain in the region is expected to clear. According to the Met Office, rain or showers will die out by early afternoon with some sunny spells developing. Temperatures are expected to reach a maximum of 19C.
Tomorrow will be another dry day with some sunny spells and warmer conditions and temperatures expected to reach 21C.
