A HOUSE fire in a North Yorkshire village has killed at least one person.

North Yorkshire Fire and Rescue Service were called to the blaze at just after 11pm on Sunday.

A spokesman said three crews were sent to a residential address in the village of Marton, three miles south of Kirkbymoorside, and spent several hours tackling the fire.

The blaze was finally extinguished at 3am on Monday morning.
The spokesman confirmed one body had been found at the scene.

Investigations then continued at the property throughout today.

The fire service spokesman said no cause had yet been determined.

He added that fire investigators were working with North Yorkshire Police and the regional scientific support services at the scene.
