A PICTURESQUE historic walled garden will be hosting outdoor Tai Chi sessions next month.

Helmsley Walled Gardens, on the edge of the North York Moors, will be hosting the taster sessions on Thursday, August 10 and Thursday, August 17 from 10.30am until 11.45am.

The outdoor events are open to anyone who would like to give it a go and will be taught by Bryan Shewry, a qualified Tai Chi instructor who has been teaching martial arts for more than 40 years.

He has taught Tai Chi Chuan and meditation for more than 20 years and welcomes students with disabilities or other health issues.

Bryan currently runs the Helmsley Tai Chi Group who practice regularly at Helmsley Walled Gardens.

Anyone wanting to have a go should come to the garden at 10.20am. Participants need to wear loose clothing and will be able to try the sessions for the normal admission price to the gardens of £7.50.
