ONE of the region’s great stately homes was turned into a temporary car park – when a cavalcade of luxurious vehicles turned up on the doorstep.

Dozens of Bentleys, some of them dating back some 90 years, took up residence on the South Front of Castle Howard near Malton.

More than 40 Bentleys, dating from the 1920s onwards, made a pitstop at the historic house as part of a Yorkshire Tour, raising money from the Walton Neuroscience Centre in Liverpool.

“The cars looked absolutely resplendent in the sunshine as they took a break from their tour of Yorkshire,” said marketing manager, Rachel Underwood.

“These are strikingly beautiful cars, and we were delighted to host their visit – as were the many families enjoying a day out here who viewed the spectacle.”

It is hoped that similarly valuable treasures from the past will arrive at Castle Howard on Thursday, when BBC’s Antiques Roadshow films a show for its forthcoming series.
